What are sick visits?

Sick visits are appointments you schedule with Dr. Lopez when you experience acute (short-term) symptoms of illness, sudden injuries, or worsening symptoms from a chronic (long-term) disease. Dr. Lopez encourages patients of all ages to come in for sick visits when they feel unwell to prevent complications and administer the appropriate treatments as soon as possible.

When should I schedule sick visits?

While many symptoms of illness and injury resolve on their own, you should schedule a sick visit if they don’t. Seeking sick care before your symptoms worsen can help prevent complications and reduce your chances of needing emergency care.

Dr. Lopez can offer a prompt diagnosis and treatment plan if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Persistent cough
  • Sore throat
  • White spots in the back of the throat
  • Fever
  • Muscle aches
  • Chills
  • Sinus congestion
  • Runny nose
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • Skin rash

Dr. Lopez can also address minor injuries, such as skin lacerations and small fractures (fingers, toes, etc.).

What health problems can sick visits address?

At his office, Dr. Lopez uses the latest lab testing services to diagnose a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries, such as:

  • Strep throat
  • Bronchitis
  • Pneumonia
  • Allergies
  • Asthma
  • Common cold
  • Influenza (flu)
  • Headaches
  • Upper respiratory tract infections
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Cuts and fractures

If you’re unsure whether to schedule a sick visit, contact Dr. Lopez for guidance.

Can I still schedule sick visits if I can’t come to the office?

Dr. Lopez offers flexible care options for patients who can’t make it to his office for sick visits. Along with telehealth services that allow you to seek comprehensive care virtually, Dr. Lopez performs house calls. He can come to your house to investigate your symptoms and administer the appropriate testing to diagnose and treat your illness or injury.

What can I expect from sick visits?

During a sick visit, Dr. Lopez records your height, weight, and vitals (blood pressure, respiration rate, and temperature). He also reviews your medical history and asks questions about your symptoms before performing a comprehensive physical exam.

Next, Dr. Lopez may perform testing, such as a rapid strep test, order blood work, urinalysis, or imaging scans. He may prescribe medications, such as antibiotics, or recommend over-the-counter remedies to get your health back on track.
